We were on the edge of Rainbow Falls because Aaron and I love adrenaline. If you follow our adventures, you’re going to figure that out pretty darn quick. Aaron loves it more than I do so he pushes me to be more daring than I naturally would be. I’m thankful for this because I end up doing things that I otherwise wouldn’t do. I don’t want to live my life regretting the things I wish I would have done. I’ll admit that I was nervous being on the edge of these falls, but I’m happy I was out there getting amazing footage and taking in about 30 minutes of God’s beautiful creation. It really was just an amazing sight to see.
The Big Island has some of the best waterfalls I’ve ever seen. We spent the day on our own waterfall tour. This is what it consisted of:
- Umauma Falls
- Kamae’e Falls
- ‘Akaka Falls
- Rainbow Falls
While I’m sitting on this rock directly to the left of the falls, I start to really think. My heart is pounding. I mean, come on! I’m on the edge of an 80 ft cliff with no railing. Anyone would be scared, right? Unless you’re my husband. I’m going to get real with you for a second, we had an argument on this waterfall. We’re both on the edge safe and sound… and then this thrill-seeking, adrenaline junky decides to have a little fun. At this point in our marriage, I should have seen it coming.
This man, who I love so dearly, is obviously trying to give me a heart attack by being right on the edge of the waterfall where the water is pouring over! He got WAY too close to the edge in my opinion. Although, this is why we have this amazing footage.
When we travel Aaron is going to be doing a lot of thrill-seeking things like standing on the edge of Rainbow Falls. It’s who he is. He always has to do the next daredevil thing. One thing he tells me is “I’m not stupid about it”. And he’s not. There’s a difference between being stupid and risky. When I look back at the waterfall situation he definitely had it under control. I just need to learn to put more trust in him. As a human, we have a hard time putting trust in things we have no control over.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”. Isaiah 41:10
